My local grocery store, Hyvee, puts out their new ad on Wednesday morning. That being said, I try to menu plan and grocery shop for the following week on Wednesdays. I typically look over the ad, see what's on sale, and menu plan around the sale items. I give myself a weekly grocery budget of $65 (although I would like to get it down to $50) with one Sam's club trip a month around $100.
Here's the tentative menu for next week:
Monday: Cheese ravioli with red sauce
Tuesday: Hibachi style steak, veggies, and brown rice (new recipe)
Wednesday: Bean and ham soup with bread (will freeze half)
Thursday: Soft tacos (with left over enchilada filling from the freezer)
Friday: Meatball Subs and salad
Saturday: Lazy pierogi (will freeze half)
Sunday: Left overs
If the little ones cooperate, I'll be grocery shopping today and getting Mr Liam's birthday gift in the mail!
I don't know if you coupon or not, but there are some amazing coupon sites around. I've gotten our household budget (food, toiletries, diapers/wipes, cleaners, building a food storage supply, etc.) down to $200/month for our family of 4.5 (we have DSD9 part of the time). I'm looking forward to your menu planning posts and your experiences with the two little ones.
ReplyDeleteI coupon a lot! I have yet to get the grocery portion under control though. I have shampoo, razors, tampons, and deodorant stock-piled for a year, lol. Where do you do your grocery shopping at???
